Wedding Registry Do's and Don'ts

Having a wedding registry is a practical and convenient way of assisting your guests in easily finding the gifts you need. Spare them the guessing game and at the same time, spare them and yourself a lot of wasted time when you have to return gifts to the store that they've spent hours looking for just because you don't need or like them.

DON'T
register alone
Register with your fiancé. Doing the registry together will give you more time to bond with each other. His opinions count too and he might suggest things you will need in the future that you have overlooked.

DO register early
This will give ample time for your guests to choose the gifts they want to give.

DON'T register for things you don't need
Be practical. Are you sure you really need all those bulky kitchen appliances that would just gather dust after your wedding?

DO register for a wide range of prices from low-priced to affordable and yes, you may request a few high-priced items
Remember to respect your guests' budget and don't register for many overpriced items that not many guests will be able to afford. However, some family members might want to be extra generous to you or some co-workers of yours might pool their money together and get that furniture you've been dying to have.

DON'T include your registry information in your wedding invitation
This is just too tacky. If you want people to know where you're registered, let your bridal party and family spread the word.

DO register at several stores
especially at national chain stores, so guests will have more options and out-of-town guests can also get you gifts.

DON'T forget to send out thank you cards
