There is no set rule for the number of bridesmaids you can have. The choice is yours. However, a small bridal party is perfect for small weddings and a big bridal party is perfect for a bigger wedding. Girls between 8 to 16 are considered junior bridesmaids and not expected to be burdened with wedding responsibilities.
Bridesmaids help take care of details to help the bride such as preparing the wedding party favors and handing out invitations. In addition, they usually join the maid of honor in hosting a bridal shower, attend your pre-wedding parties and rehearsals. With all the expectations given to your bridesmaids, be fair to them. Give them equal duties and responsibilities and make sure they know your expectations. It would be best to tell them your expectations ahead of time and put them in writing so miscommunication will not be a problem.
Be considerate in choosing your bridesmaids' gowns. Be kind enough to consider what suits their figures best and their budget too. Get their input with regards to color, style and budget and for bridesmaid's dresses. Give them selections and options. Not everyone can afford an expensive dress so if you really like something that some can't afford, you will have to make a compromise. It's either you pay half of the dress or just choose something more affordable for everyone. Remember they're close people in your life and making them look lovely and feel good on your wedding will create a stronger bond with them.
To show your appreciation, give them bridesmaid gifts that they can use at and/or after the wedding. When the wedding is over, don't forget to thank them, not just with gifts, but with great appreciation for the love and support they showered you.
